Beggar's Banquet restaurant and saloon opened its doors in 1973 with the idealistic goal of being an inclusive, not an exclusive restaurant. We serve great food and fine wine in a casual atmosphere. We use the freshest ingredients, and the menu is always a blend of the traditional and the avant garde. With soups, salads, sandwiches and a wide array of entrees we aim to provide something for everyone. The New York Times once wrote of Beggar's: "... a restaurant that, with a straight face, calls itself 'an authentic East Lansing restaurant". As the years have gone by, that 'straight face' has become a knowing smile. Whether it is your first time here, or you are a regular "beggular," we want you to feel welcome. 5 - The Harrison Roadhouse
East Lansing, Michigan: In the beginning, there was Duke's Shell, a happy little business on the corner of Harrison and Michigan... BUT inside loomed a spirit too strong to be caged by a mere gas station. So, in October of 1981 the Roadhouse was born. The evolution of the original building (including the use of service bay doors as windows) into what is now one of Michigan's premier "fun stops" has taken years. Now with our open patio, greenhouses, and friendly "Roadie" regulars, we will make your time spent with us more fun than allowed. 4 - Spiral Dance Bar
Many locals regard this as the Capital City's premier gay dance club, featuring retro and Top-40 parties and professional house DJ's skilled at keeping the fun going long after old folks have hit the sack. The club's stylish interior features weathered brick walls juxtaposed with red velvet drapes, a stainless steel bar, contemporary hand-wrought furniture, and bizarre mirrors. The result is a Gotham-meets-South Beach scene that attracts a mixed crowd of locals, students, and tourists. The club is divided by an expansive window-wall into two sections: a video bar area and a dance floor.

4 - Smokey Bones Barbeque & Grill
Slow-smoked specialties: Baby-back and St. Louis-style ribs and hand-pulled pork are slow-smoked in each restaurant daily for up to 11 hours over hickory for fall-off-the-bone tenderness and smokey flavor. Other offerings from the smoker are beef brisket, turkey breast and grilled smoked sausage. A thick, sweet barbeque sauce and a mustard-style version are on each table for guests to customize their barbeque.
